On April 30th The Chihuahuas participated in Our Voice’s “Walk A Mile In her Shoes.” This is a fabulous event to raise money and awareness for domestic violence victims. The money goes to Our Voice a local non profit. In their own words: ”Our VOICE, Inc. is a non-profit crisis intervention and prevention agency which serves victims of sexual violence, age 13 through adult, in Buncombe County. The agency was founded in 1974 as an all-volunteer grassroots organization.” A really great cause and a fun event. Men from the community are asked to walk an actual mile in high heels for this event and to raise money through gaining sponsorships for the walk. 300 men from the Asheville community came out to walk and $20,000 was raised! We were so happy to be a part of this event.
This Easter weekend the Feral C’s participated in The Big Bad Bunny Urban Scavenger Hunt. It’s an awesome and unique event that takes teams on a journey around downtown Asheville scavenging through the area’s history, culture, unique shops and community organizations in search of the golden carrot. Along the way, they interact with local musicians, merchants and actors as they help you complete your quests through a variety of riddles, a beer tasting, local trivia, ridiculously awesome challenges, chocolate, bad poetry, and a few portions of small community service projects. This event is yet another brainchild of The Race For Awesomeness. It was super fun for everyone and this event supports several local non-profits. The Feral Chihuahuas would like to give a big HUZZAH to all of the teams that showed up and to the organizers (Dick and Heather) for a great event!
